(مُنْذُ) – mundhu – particle

Definitions:

1. since, for; ago
2. ever since, from the time when

Examples:

1. ma ra’aytuhu mundhu yawm al-khamis(ما رأيتُهُ مُنْذُ يومِ الخميسِ); I haven’t seen him since Thursday.
2. ma laqi_tuhu mundhu al-yawm (ما لقِيتُه مُنْذَ اليوم); I haven’t met him ever since that day.
3. Salla_ al-na_su wa raqadu_ wa lam taza_lu fi sala_tin mundhu ‘ntaZartumu_ha_
   (صَلَّى النَّاسُ وَرَقَدُوا وَلَمْ تَزَالُوا فِى صَلاَةٍ مُنْذُ انْتَظَرْتُمُوهَا); The people prayed and then slept, while you all did not cease to be in prayer from the time when you waited for it. – Bukhari from Anas

Etymology:

From either (مِنْ ذُو) or (مِنْ إذْ) or (مِنْ ذَا) [al-Fayruzabadi, al-Qamus]
